The synchronous lifting and installation of the large-span steel structure aerial bridge has been completed successfully

Project Introduction:

As a landmark construction of Xiangcheng District, Suzhou, as a hotel project (Suzhou International Conference Hotel) for Suzhou Yangcheng Lake tourist site, the 2600-ton “giants” steel structure bridge was lifted synchronously for 78.57 meters, the bridge height is 94.75 meters, and the span is 81 meters.

The bridge was lifted to the position precisely between the two towers, surrounded by the skycrapers, marking a beautiful landscape in Xiangcheng District. The length, weight and lifting height of the steel structure bridge (ranked the first in Asia combined with the three indicators).

The project management team organized two expert seminars and 23 seminars on special subjects related to the synchronous lifting and sliding of the aerial bridges. After painstaking studies and discussions, the final solution is: “Firstly, we adopted 2 meters of ground dislocation, secondly, integrated hydraulic synchronous lifting, and thirdly, 2 meters of sliding installation."

Using 10 sets of 400-ton steel stranded lifting hydraulic jacks with rated lifting force for synchronous lifting in the overall process, it also requires hundred times of computer simulation exercises to ensure that the synchronization error of adjacent lifting points is controlled within 10 mm. Meanwhile, with the assistance from Suzhou Emergency Management Bureau, we had a drill as an emergency coping mechanism.

Project construction process:

① 15:28, 17th, August:

The synchronous lifting hydraulic system gradually began to load in order, so was the pre lifting of the aerial bridge.

② 16:28 17th, August:

The bridge was about 100 mm away from the platform.

③ 06:58

The bridge was about 100 mm away from the platform.

④ 02:08, 20th August

After 43 hours of painstaking efforts and extensive cooperation, the synchronous lifting and positioning of the aerial bridge was successfully completed to the designed position.

Project security:

During the lifting and sliding process, more than 40 monitoring points were used monitoring the internal force, deformation, acceleration, etc. of the aerial bridge throughout the whole process. The construction unit adopted the BIM smart construction site platform for technical management, guiding the on-site construction through the production of animations and 3D modeling of the full lifting and sliding process, in order to ensure the safety and stability of the synchronized lifting of the aerial bridge.

The successful lifting of the aerial bridge of the conference center complex that integrates accommodation, conferences, catering and banquets marks a major breakthrough in the overall construction of the Suzhou International Conference Hotel project.

A large-scale hotel complex with 1,518 guest rooms of 8 different types, nearly 100 meeting rooms, 9 dining areas and 3 large banquet halls, which meets the growing demand for high-end tourism in the Yangtze River Delta region, enhances the reception capacity of large-scale conferences in Suzhou and helps to create a Shanghai-Suzhou related business exhibition area.
