Technical Excellence in Motion: South African Engineering Expert Visits for Transformer Positioning Solutions
At KIET, we understand that moving a 250-ton to 300-ton transformer into precise position requires more than just power—it requires absolute control and reliability.
Last week, we were privileged to host a senior field engineer from South Africa for an intensive equipment inspection and operational training session. With years of hands-on experience in heavy power infrastructure, his visit focused on mastering the synergy between our specialized hydraulic systems.

A Complete Solution for Heavy Transformer Handling
The inspection centered on a high-performance equipment package designed specifically for transformer skidding and positioning:
Hydraulic Skidding System: Engineered for the smooth, controlled lateral movement of heavy loads.
Hydraulic Turntable: Providing the essential rotational flexibility needed in confined substation environments.
Lock Nut Hydraulic Cylinders: Ensuring maximum safety through mechanical load holding during the positioning process.

From Inspection to Innovation: Expanding the Scope
Real-world expertise meets manufacturing precision. After witnessing the build quality and the advanced synchronous control of our systems, the visiting engineer identified further opportunities to enhance their fleet’s versatility.
The demonstration of our Double Acting Hydraulic Cylinders—known for their rapid retraction and superior control in both push and pull operations—led to an immediate expansion of the project’s scope. This additional order of double-acting cylinders will provide their team with even greater tactical flexibility for complex on-site maneuvers in South Africa.
Bridging Factory Precision and Field Reality

The training wasn't just about buttons and valves; it was about solving the challenges of 300-ton moves. By simulating real-world scenarios on our factory floor, we ensured that when this equipment arrives in South Africa, it will be operated with total confidence and peak safety standards.
"Seeing the robustness of the KIET skidding system in person confirms why we trust this technology for our most critical transformer installations," noted the visiting engineer.
